Nature Gift Store was generous enough to send out their Small 12” Pop Up Cage with 5 LIVE Caterpillars. The whole house found it so exciting as we watched the caterpillars transition into a chrysalis, and finally emerge as adult Painted Lady butterflies!  It took about 3 weeks for the whole process and out of the 5 caterpillars we ended up with 4 butterflies! 

The experience was truly amazing for them.  Each morning they would check on the butterflies and mist the cage to keep the butterflies moist.  It was the highlight of their day!  Once they emerged we made the sugar water that was provided for us in the kit and put it into the feeding station.  We also cut up and orange and

the butterflies seemed to love that!  After about 4 days we released them into the world.  The kids were each able to hold on in their hand as they came out of the cage.
