Rebecca's Reviews: Sun Basket

Many families today are unable to get to the food store on a regular basis as so many parents are both working full time and their children have many activities after school and on the weekends. Today’s parents have the luxury of being able to have healthy cooking brought right to their door steps. I did just that when I tried out Sun Basket.

I recently checked out Sun Basket and loved it! Sun Basket sent two meals to my family as a trial.  Like many other meal delivery services, you are able to pick meals for either a couple (2 meals) or a family (4 meals).  Sun Basket also offers a wide variety of options as well, such as, gluten free, chef’s choice, paleo and vegetarian. All the meals come with Organic and non-GMO produce.

We chose the family option as we have 4 people in our house.  Our first option was chicken and dumplings and the second was black bean quesadilla’s with broccoli slaw.  What makes this service so great, is the fact that everything comes measured out and ready to go.  There is very little prep that goes into the actual meal. The worst part of cooking to me is measuring everything out. As a mother working full time with two small children I don’t have hours to spend in front of the stove.  I need something quick and easy, but yet healthy.  Both of my children loved the service as well since they were able to participate in the cooking. As you are reading the recipe, it specifies when the children are able to jump in and help.  Of course, my little ones loved that!

My 6 year old son loved the chicken and dumplings meal and both of my children loved the bean quesadilla’s as we made them extra cheesy!  My husband and I liked both meals as well.  The only complaint from my husband was the chicken was not white meat in the chicken and dumplings.  If you have a family that is big eaters I will say that the portions are on the smaller side so you will not have extra or enough for 2 servings if 4 people are eating the meal.  We did make a small salad on the side of the chicken and dumplings.  All in all, I think this is a great service for someone who either works and can’t get to the food store on a regular basis.  You know that you are getting quality food that is fresh!  To learn more about Sun Basket click here.
