Junior Naturalists

Spend one Sunday afternoon per month with a Duke Farms Educator learning all about the wonders of nature. Each Junior Naturalist (accompanied by an adult) will explore our habitats in every season and learn about a different nature topic each month. Part of each program is spent indoors learning about the topic of the month. Then we go outdoors to explore nature in the field. Appropriate shoes are required and this program will run rain or shine, so please dress for the weather!

Whether you have a pet as a family member or not, this week is all about animals, both land and sea. Everyone loves some kind of animal. We will do a paint your pet, so please email a picture to gonepaintin@gmail.com upon sign up of the animal your child wants to paint. We will touch upon all mediums we offer in the studio...canvas, ceramics, glass, clay and wood, not in any particular order but we will be working on various projects and different steps of them everyday. Multi tasking is a good skill to learn. With help, each camper will design their project on paper and then create it. We will also fit in one slime, one themed snack depending on allergies in the group, themed music, movies and any other crafts that come our way.

Reading Buddies is a six week program that gives older students and beginning readers the opportunity to share the fun of reading. Little and Big Reading Buddies are paired together, and meet 45 minutes per week for a six week session. Each session includes buddy reading, a snack, and a literacy related activity such as a game or craft. Parent or guardians of the Little Buddy must stay in the library during the program. Little Buddies are in grades 1-4. Big Buddies are in grades 5-12.

Profeta Farms Summer Sprouts Club

Profeta Farms Summer Sprouts Club will be held on Tuesdays, July 24 and 31 and August 7 and 14, 10-11 a.m. at Profeta Farms, located at 803 US Highway 202 in Readington, NJ. Each program will include a story and activity. Cost to participate is $10 per program or $20 for all four programs. Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin' musical rhythms of the jungle. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle. Shows at 11am & 1pm.
