Join a Duke Farms Educator one Sunday morning a month to learn why Duke Farms is for the birds! During this series, Junior Ornithologists will gain an understanding of what makes birds so unique and fascinating. Through games and classroom activities we will explore the life histories of birds and delve into topics such as bird biology and adaptations for flight, bird behavior, diets and habitats. We will learn to use binoculars and field guides and will go outside to see what our feathered friends are up to throughout the year. At least 1 adult must accompany each family of children during this program, with no more than two adults accompanying each child.

Visit our friendly farm animals. Bounce in Daisybelle the cow, loose yourself in our corn maze, shoot our Corn Cannon and enjoy good food. Fun for the whole family.

Our farm stand is filled with our fall harvest. You will find Country Treasures and fall decorations. Our own Indian corn, gourds, kale, corn stalks, straw and a wide variety of colorful mums. Take home some local apple cider, fresh baked pies, breads and goodies!

This 1.5 mile obstacle course challenge is suitable for the whole family. Get muddy climbing through different obstacles on the property of YMCA Camp Carr. Come in costume for muddy Halloween fun (no masks please) and join us for complimentary seasonal refreshments after the run! First wave at 10:00 am. Every wave after that will be in staggered intervals. Please note, we cannot accept requests for specific start times. Start times will be posted to our website, www.hcymca.org, one week prior to the Mud Run. We ask that all participants arrive 15 minutes before their assigned start time to check in.

Rutgers Gardens New Brunswick

Bring the whole family to the Gardens for the afternoon. There will be something for everyone! Explore the many different areas in the gardens by taking part in the scavenger hunt, play lawn games in the Evergreen Garden with members of the honors/service fraternity Alpha Zeta or stop by the School of Rock "Instrument Petting Zoo" for a chance to pet a real live instrument. Tour the student farm to see what is growing and visit the animals from the Cook Animal Farm who will be visiting the Gardens for the day. Be sure to visit the Log Cabin area where you can meet the Youth Programs staff. While there you can paint a pumpkin ($4), check out the food and plant discovery tables and create fall crafts.

The Railroad is a safe place to enjoy the festive Halloween events, so bring the kids and ride aboard this 45 minute spooky fun Trick or Treat Train Excursion. Children of all ages are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes, helping to make the train a child friendly scary sight.
Enjoy the ride while participating in the reading of Spookley the Square Pumpkin children’s book combined with fun and cheerful songs. Afterwards, trick or treat around the New Hope train station for more surprises!
Trick or Treat bags, assorted trinkets and candy will be given out onboard as well as at the station!
