Students will learn how to create images on a printing plate that will be transferred onto paper through monoprinting and the use of a portable printing press. Students will explore the use of positive and negative space and learn how to use natural objects as stencils for creating successful compositions. Natural objects will be used to act as stencils to block sections of ink from transferring when printed through the printing press. A brief overview of the history of printmaking will also be offered.
Based on the children's story by Hans Christian Andersen, a little mermaid dreams of going on land. Banished by her father, the King of the Sea, she is banished from the kingdom and forced to fend for herself.
Like so many girls her age, little Dorothy Gale of Kansas dreams of what lies over the rainbow. One day, a twister hits her farm and carries her over the rainbow to another world. Come join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and Toto as they travel the universe of Dorothy’s imagination.

We study how babies and young children learn to talk, see, and understand the world! Our studies are designed to be both short and fun for your child. Study participation means a one-time visit to the Baby Lab, scheduled at a time convenient for you. Contact us for weekend and evening availability. The Hunterdon Health and Wellness Centers in Whitehouse Station and Clinton are dedicated to providing health enhancement and disease prevention programs for the community. As part of their Education Series, the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Centers will offer CPR Basics, on Monday, June 12th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Clinton and Tuesday, June 13th from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Whitehouse Station. This program is free and participants will receive a guest pass to be used at the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Centers.
Join us for our FREE Gardening Series for Kids. Weeding your veggie garden is necessary to get the biggest harvest possible plus to keep out unwanted insects. For novice gardeners, it is sometimes hard to tell the difference between the weeds and the actual vegetable plants, especially when the plants are just starting to grow. We will visit different gardens to play a fun game - WEED vs. VEGGIE. We will also make some signs to identify the veggies in the kids garden. Finally, we will weed our Kids Garden to ensure we get the best harvest possible!
Activities include arts and crafts, dramatics and pretend play, stories, music, snack and outdoor activities. Children ages 2-5 are welcome to join us.

Learn to Skate group classes are for skaters age 2 through adult who are looking to learn how to ice skate. Our classes are designed to teach skaters the basic skating skills needed to confidently skate on their own along with the skills necessary to progress into the sport of Figure Skating or Hockey. No prior skating experience is necessary to join our Learn to Ice Skate program. A new program starts up every 6 – 8 weeks.
Please Note: *Helmets are required for Tiny Tots, Snowplow Sam, Basic 1 & 2, and all Hockey classes.
Join us at the Flemington Free Public Library each Tuesday for storytime. The children and their parents or caregivers are entertained by picture books, poetry, scissor stories, or drawn stories. A craft related to the weekly theme completes the session, which generally runs a little longer than a half hour.

Join us at the Flemington Free Public Library each Wednesday for storytime. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Stories are geared to the younger age level and are interspersed with songs and finger-plays. A simple craft activity ends the thirty minutes.
Children 3-5 years old learn about nature while exploring the out-of-doors with one of the Teacher-Naturalists. Each class includes outdoor exploration, stories and simple crafts. A parent must stay with any child younger than 4. Please come dressed appropriately for the weather – boots are recommended in the spring. Class size is limited and registration is required. This class does NOT meet at the Watershed Center, meet us at the Pond House on Wargo Road.

Our mission is to provide a fun and positive experience that encourages the love of language and reading in all its forms. Crafts, yoga, movement, singing, dance, and puppetry will be incorporated into our storytime to expose them to the various layers literature. There will always be a language-based game at the end of each storytime to review concepts learned during a book. It's a great way to practice paying attention, following directions, developing pre-reading skills, and socializing. The Kid’s Orchid Club, which is aimed at the budding young orchid lover, is a great introduction to the amazing world of orchids and botany. Each ‘meeting’ will be filled with instructive discussion and hands-on trainings about all aspects of the orchid world, from dissecting orchid flowers to examining orchid plants for an understanding of sound growing practices.
Adult chaperones must stay on site at Duke Farms during the class, feeling free to take a walk, enjoy the café, etc.

This program is designed for kids 8-12 with an adult chaperone. After a repotting demonstration, each kid & parent team will repot an orchid plant and take it home to nurture.

Local Beekeeper Adele Barree and friends will bring some living bees, and will provide an opportunity for youth to learn more about the art and science of beekeeping. Attendees will have the opportunity to examine not only the bees in an observation hive, but also to examine beekeeping equipment, to taste some local honey, and to take home a flowering plant to attract bees to your own backyard.
The Sourland Music Festival is all about community – families, friends and neighbors coming together to enjoy good music, food and drink, explore and enjoy the outdoors, and help protect the beautiful Sourland Mountain – the largest forest in central New Jersey.
