Beginner Road Bike Ride - West Ashley

The Trek Store, West Ashley

Beginner Road Ride for all riders interested in learning about group bike rides. We will provide a ride leader who will lead you on the route, answer questions, and assist with mechanical issues. Learn about the rules of the road, how to ride in a paceline, and basic bike maintenance skills, including how to fix a flat tire! All rides start and end at the store. We will have post ride coffee and snacks.

Helmets are required. We highly suggest a front and rear blinking light.

Pace: 14-16 mph
NO DROP RIDE - we will regroup if anyone has difficulties with the pace.

Road bikes are not required, but highly suggested.

Audubon Guided Bird Walk

Old Santee Canal Park is teaming up with Audubon South Carolina to offer Guided Bird Walks. Join us for a leisurely walk around the swamp as we search for our resident and migratory feathered friends! We will cover approximately 1 mile over well-graded gravel paths and boardwalk, with some minimal inclines and uneven surfaces. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Binoculars will be provided, but bring your own if able.

This well-known fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm weaves its story around the beautifully painted scenes of Saxony, featuring 11 puppeteers manipulating 410 meticulously crafted marionettes—including 300 pesky rats!

Atlantic Cup: Charleston-New York Race Start

The Atlantic Cup is back in town but not for long because they will soon be off to New York! Join us on Saturday, May 26th for the start of Leg 1 Charleston-New York! The gun goes off at 12 pm so be sure to find your perfect viewing spot early!

For the best viewing of the start, park next to the Charleston Maritime Center at the corner of Inspection and Wharfside Streets.

Can't make it for the start? Stop by City Marina in the days leading up to the start, Tuesday May 22nd through Friday, May 25th to check out the fleet and meet the teams and they prep for their 642-nautical mile run to New York!
