In an effort to stop childhood drowning, The Hunterdon County YMCA is offering 2nd graders who are at the beginner level (total non-swimmer and doggie paddlers) one free session of swim lessons per school year. We ran the first session in Fall 2016. The next session (remember they can only take one), will be held during our spring I Session. The classes will be offered every afternoon Monday thru Thursday at 4 pm. Saturday at 8 am and 12 noon and Sunday at 9 am. Students may enroll on line now. The classes run from Feburary 27 through April 15.
Students register for one class (ie., Monday at 4) and attend once a week for 7 weeks. The classes are 45 minutes in length and cover water safety, basic swimming and survival skills. Children will be evaluated and given a progress report at the end of the session.

Each 45 minute class provides interaction and musical play between caregivers and children, in a fun-filled, non-performance environment. We'll sing, dance, and play with various child-safe rhythm instruments. Live instrument (guitar, ukulele or keyboard) are played by instructor in every class. Fall, winter and spring semesters are 10 weeks; summer is 6 weeks.
We are dedicated to helping every child succeed socially with peers. We welcome kids of all ages and abilities. We will group kids with children they can be successful with but ask that you sign up ahead of time and commit to a group of sessions.
The Emmy Award-winning Saturday morning educational cartoon series and pop culture phenomenon is now the basis for one of the most fun and easily mounted musicals ever to hit the stage, Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR.
The show follows Tom, a young schoolteacher, who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV, when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music. Memorable songs as "Just a Bill," "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly" and "Conjunction Junction" bring his lesson plans vividly to life.
Showtimes:
Saturdays: 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m.
Sundays: 12:00 noon
