Hoops 101 with Britta Nippert

We will spend an hour exploring on- and off-body basics that will introduce beginners to the foundations of hoop tech and hoop dance. We will cover the basics of proper waist hooping and how to move our bodies around while maintaining hoop motion and contact. Students will also be introduced to shoulder, knee, and chest hooping with tips to move forward on practicing these skills and how to incorporate body movement at the same time. Students will also try vortexes and on-body breaks. Off body, students will explore proper hand control to move forward into tricks like basic weaves, jump throughs, isolations, chest rolls, escalators, and mandalas. The main aim of this workshop is for beginners to get comfortable inside the circle and learn introductions to the many avenues of exploration with the hoop. Not all of these skills will be mastered in a single hour, but students will leave with the knowledge they need to master these skills on their own and keep exploring.

It's a great way to get out of the house and get your energy out on cold rainy days. $10 cash ($11 credit) for as long as we are open. We also offer a monthly pass, so you can come as often as you'd like for an entire month! $35 for the first child, $30 each additional sibling.

Spring Princess Ball

As the flowers start to bloom, little girls from all over central New Jersey will be coming together to dress up and socialize with a real live Princess. On April 10th The Dance Connection transforms into a palace.

Every young princess that attends The Spring Princess Ball will play a special part in the fairy tale. Each child gets a special moment with the guest princess during the royal procession. Children dance, do ballet and make a magical craft they get to take home. All young ladies who attend the ball are encouraged to wear their favorite princess dress. The special princess guest will be available for photos, smiles, and lots of fun. 

Kids Yoga Series

Join Kim for an hour of themed sequences, storytelling and music to engage the natural energy and enthusiasm of children in this four-week series. Each class will explore yoga poses, breathing exercises, visual imagery and relaxation techniques that build social, sensory, and motor skills while increasing flexibility. This playful series conveys lessons in self-expression, social skills, and positive thinking. Cooperative yoga games at the end of each class are sure to inspire positive peer interactions that children can carry into their everyday lives.
